Soulslayer: a merchandise supernova

While Rise And Fall are taking a time out, there’s no slowing down bass player Vincent. He just launched a new version of the Soulslayer merchandise shop and is recording with his other band Blind To Faith.

You recently relaunched the Soulslayer shop. What are the biggest improvements?

Well, to be honest I think the biggest improvement is the fact that everything is way more efficient. It makes things easier for me and the “shopping experience” of the “customer” is a lot better. In the past the platform I worked with was pretty complicated to add new products, calculate shipping costs, handle stock-keeping, order picking and what not. So since all of this has improved I’m able to handle and process the orders a lot better.

Soulslayer

The thing what most people don’t know is that I run Soulslayer in the very little free time after family life with a girlfriend and 2 kids, working a full-time job and 2 bands.

The thing what most people don’t know is that I run Soulslayer in the very little free time after family life with a girlfriend and 2 kids, working a full-time job and 2 bands. So sometimes that free time is EXTREMELY limited, luckily Bjorn (Rise And Fall) comes to help me out when stuff gets real busy. So the better I can run the store the better for me and the better for that people that order since they won’t have to wait as long for their order as they did in the past.

On top of that the new platform allows me to offer shipping with tracking AND a more interesting shipping rate, especially when people order multiple items. That’s why I always recommend people to order together with a couple of friends so they can spread the costs of shipping over a couple of items/people. Shipping costs an arm and a leg these days. Ask anyone, but we are doing our best to optimize everything.

Soulslayer sells merch from bands like Integrity, Nails, Amen Ra, Rise and Fall etc. Do you yourself choose the bands you work and contact them if they might be interested? What do you look for in a band to be part of Soulslayer?

The way the store started, it was just a place to get rid of tour leftovers for Rise And Fall and it gradually grew from there. Right now I work with people that I know personally and bands Rise And Fall has toured with in the past. I reach out to them or they reach out to me. I only want to do bands I personally love and work with people that I actually like. Since I usually like heavy and honest bands that is the kind of bands you will find on Soulslayer.net.

Soulslayer releases

Hopefully this turns out to be a really cool project and we can continue to work with other bands besides bands that I’m a part of.

Next to the shop there’s also Soulslayer Records. The Rise and Fall live lp is going to be released there as well as Blind To Faith. Would you like to expand thel label part and do more releases or are you planning to stick with your own bands? Why did you choose to release the R&F lp on Soulslayer and not on Deathwish?

We will see where it takes us. The idea behind releasing a record ourselves is basically the fact that we have released a whole bunch of records on different labels but I have never put out a record myself. So I want do that and try my very best to make it sound great and look awesome. If releasing records is something that I like then I’m sure we will continue to release records, but since I never had a recordlabel up until this point it can go either way I guess, haha. Hopefully this turns out to be a really cool project and we can continue to work with other bands besides bands that I’m a part of.

I saw some updates on the recording process of a new Blind To Faith record. When can we expect that one to come out?

We were just in the studio last week and recorded 4 new songs, 3 of them should be on a split 12″ with an undisclosed band on an undisclosed label. I think the 12″ will surface after the summer and like always it will be awesome as fuck.

Is it true the Soulslayer merch will be for sale at Groezrock as well for those who don’t like to order online.

Yes indeed!! We will have a limited amount of merch at the Reflections Records booth, drop by!
