Tracklisting Nirvana – Nevermind deluxe reissue revealed

Tracklisting Nirvana – Nevermind deluxe reissue revealed

Some of you probably think this doesn’t belong on a hardcore / punk site, but since Nirvana is more punk than a lot of hardcore bands anyway, they’re my favorite band (like you didn’t know that already) and I could care less about genres here’s some news about the upcoming reissue of Nevermind. It’s been 20 years since it came out. Time flies, time to celebrate. And there’s bound to be some people on here that find this interesting anyway.

According to NME:

The full, extras-packed tracklistings for the Deluxe and Super Deluxe reissues of Nirvana’s 1991 album ‘Nevermind’ have been revealed. Both will be released on September 26.

The 2CD Deluxe edition will contain a remastered cut of the original album plus B-sides as well as a CD featuring the Smart Studio Sessions, The Boombox Rehearsals and BBC Sessions.

The 4CD + DVD Super Deluxe edition will contain these two CDs, plus a CD of the previously unreleased The Devonshire Mixes and the previously unreleased Live At The Paramount Theatre from their 1991 Halloween gig in Seattle, footage of which will also be included on the DVD. The show is the only known Nirvana gig that was shot to film. The Deluxe edition will also be available on vinyl.

Only 10,000 copies of the Super Deluxe Version of the album will be released in North America, with another 30,000 for the rest of the world, including the UK.

‘Nevermind’ has sold over 30 million copies in the two decades since its release. It was the second studio album from Nirvana, the iconic grunge band made up of the late Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Foo Fighters mainman Dave Grohl.

The 20th anniversary of ‘Nevermind’ will also be marked by a series of as-yet-unannounced events.

Although I hoped for the Nevermind version of Sappy, I’m pretty glad to finally get the Paramount show on DVD (Blue Ray will be released later) and to hear those boombox demo’s for Nevermind. I’ll be getting it the day it gets released.

They should have included this version of Smells Like Teen Spirit too :

That’s what you get when you make a band playback when they don’t want to.

still like Nirvana a lot, but I’m getting a bit tired of all the extra releases, I understand remastering, but a different mix…

All the extra releases? After Kurt’s death they released MTV Unplugged, From The Muddy Banks Of The Whiskah, Nirvana (greatest hits with a new song) & With The Lights Out (boxset for the fans).

    That’s 4 releases in 7 years?

Anyway, that extra mix is there for the (die-hard?) fans on CD 3, the 2 CD package will not have that extra mix.

They made some strange choices, I don’t like that they made disc 4 a copy of the DVD audio, they should have included Sappy from the Nevermind sessions (maybe there will be an easter-egg?) etc, but aside from that I can’t wait to see the full Paramount show!

Oh and for any Hole fans, yes that “Old Age” is the one Hole covered and claimed their own a bit later 😉

I wonder if this is a fan pleaser or a whallet filler. I realy think the second…

It’s a mix of both 😉 If they hadn’t made a couple of really stupid choices it would have been more of a fan pleaser, now it’s in the middle.

If you want to spend less money, there’s going to be a version for everyone. If I’m correct a 1 CD version (just the remastered original + b-sides), a 2 CD version (remastered + b-sides + demo’s + rehearsals) and the DVD (or Blue Ray) will be available separately as well.
