Harsh Realms – PØLP
It might be just me. But i have the feeling that punkrock is getting less and less exciting by the year. Or do I spend too much time in a van with Johan Reflections and is he winning me over to the darkside of metal? Whatever the reason the fact is that I’m hardly impressed by the dozen of punkrecords released each month. But there’s still hope for me I guess…
Every time I come home from a Harsh Realms show I find myself near my record player and my Expedit full of records and grabbing either Hot Water Music’s No Division or Bouncing Souls Anchors Aweigh. It’s the vibe that Harsh Realms give in live shows and on this full length as well. And that’s a very good thing. Highlights are ‘To Be Honest’, ‘The Clapperboard’ and ‘Last At The Party Scene’.
From the moment Harsh Realms came under my attention I’ve been on the lookout for a proper full length to satisfy my cravings for good, solid punkrock with a poppy twist. And PØLP despite, it’s strange name, is everything I hoped for. Melodic, gruffy, solid tunes. Together with The Real Danger this probably is my favorite European punk band at the moment.
