Transit – Listen and Forgive

Transit – Listen and Forgive

I have been hearing the band Transit come up a lot recently and until this point, never had the opportunity to check out any of the band’s music. I got a chance to review Transit’s new Record Listen and Forgive, released by Rise Records. Listen and Forgive is another release in the new class of Rise Records bands, which includes the likes of Man Overboard and Hot Water Music. This 11 song full length is Transit’s second full length effort.

Without getting too caught up in genres and sub-genres, I will say that this record is definitely on the poppier side of the pop-punk/pop-rock genres. Which, I’ll admit, is something I was not expecting with the amount of hardcore kids that are regularly talking this band up. Listen and Forgive winds through 11 songs of varying tempos. The recording and production quality on the record sounds good, and as you might expect from a label the size of Rise. The vocals on Listen and Forgive are standard fair for a pop rock band and full of catchy hooks. The melodies were getting stuck in my head, which I think makes it the standout feature on this record for me. At no point do the vocals get aggressive as one might expect from a band that has a lot of “hardcore” fans. To bring even more melody to this record, Track 4 “All of Your Heart”, features guest vocals from former Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump, who belts out his lines with his strong vocals. This guest appearance alone I’m sure will get some more mainstream fans to check out this release.

As I said previously, this is Transit’s first release on Rise Records. Listen and Forgive is available through Rise on both CD and colored vinyl. You can check out the band at their sites below or check out Rise Records for more info on the release.
