White Lung – Sorry
Good female-fronted bands seem to be scarce in hardcore punk music. White Lung is one of those bands and they have recently released their latest album Sorry on Deranged Records.
On their previous releases the band sounded harsh and agressive, but White Lung seems to have taken a different path. The more melodic approach resulted in a bunch of catchy almost pop-punk tunes. However White Lung hasn’t lost their raw and abrasive sound, partly because of Mish Way still screaming her lungs out. What that sounds like? Imagine Patti Smith fronting a 80’s hardcore punk band, or just listen to the stream below.
Replacing their guitarist for Kenny McCorkell turned out to be just what White Lung needed. If you hear his licks, especially on Bag, you can do nothing but nod your head in approval. It makes the songs more interesting than the usual straight forward way of writing that most hardcore punk acts use. Deranged Records have put out a bunch of great bands and White Lung seems to fit right in.
