Make Do And Mend – End Measured Mile giveaway
When I received my order of the new Make Do And Mend LP (that Rold reviewed yesterday) there were some additional copies of the LP’s and CD’s in the package. The kind folks of Shield Recordings asked us if we wanted to give them away. Of course I said no and put em on Ebay right away. So here we go:
We’re giving away 2 packages, each containing a copy of the LP AND the CD. So you can stuck one sealed in your precious collection, waiting for better Ebay days and use the other to play in your car (we’ll not be responsible for any speeding tickets) or something. Smart thinking of the Shield people.
So what do you have to do? Pretty simple, just answer the following question in a comment on this post:
What’s your favorite Shield Recordings release?
And how about the rules?
- If you’re not yet registered on the site, do that first. It only takes a minute (That includes clicking on the verification mail you’ll be getting. Didn’t get one? Check your junk/spam box, or get in touch and we’ll manually validate you!) and after it you can join the conversations in the forum, comment on news, reviews, interviews etc. You know you want to.
- Of course there are no right answers or wrong answers.
- Anyone can enter, doesn’t matter where you live.
- We’ll be picking two winners on Monday (August 15th 2011) and they’ll be notified personally.
That’s it! My answer by the way, if we’re not counting the records I played on (because they’re always more special to you), could very well be this Make Do And Mend LP itself. Amazing release.
Back to specials overview
I guess saying Heartfelt – Take It Or Leave It is out of the question so I’ll go for The Real Danger – Making Enemies.
Pretty much anything by Antillectual, is that a cop out answer?
That’s a tough one…
Well, before they released the MDAM full-length, my favorite Shield release was On Fire – Masquerades, so I’ll stick with that one.
The Hunger 7″! or something by the real danger.
Right now: Make Do And Mend – End Measured Mile
closely followed by Antillectual – Start From Scratch and The Real Danger – Making Enemies.
Somehow I forgot about the This Routine Is Hell lp. That one is awesome too.
Make do and Mend – End Measured Mile
The Real Danger – Making enemies
Antilectual – Start from Scratch
Smash the Statues – When Fear is all around us
aahhh to many!
But for now it’s Make do and Mend – End measured Mile (show in 013 was awesome!), if you’d asked me a month ago I would’ve said The Real Danger – Making Enemies
Lots of footage of the 013 show will be publised on SWNK soon!
the New AOB release. is my favourite unreleased album for sure.
xroldx is my favourite person alive.
After their show in 013 last Monday i’m convinced: Make Do and Mend – End Measured Mile is my new favourite release. Before that i liked Brat Pack – Stupidity Returns on Shield.
Citizens Patrol disco. 500 songs, 10 minutes, my favourite Dutch hardcore band.
Closely followed by This Routine Is Hell.
glad koentors taste is better then his math…
I don’t hear you complaining about the length of their songs!
The Make Do and Mend record, but I spent all my money on beers when I was at the show in Tilburg!
Tough question. I really like a lot of releases by the Shield. My favourite record will change from day to day. Today it’s Dead to me – wait for it.
Absolutely the MDAM – End Measured Mile 12″/CD on first place and on second place: This Routine Is Hell – The Verve Crusade.
MDAM – End Measured Mile and I hate admit but that’s the only release I’ve heard from Shield Recordings catalogue.
1. Said & Done – Everyday (nuff said)
and
2. Citizens Patrol – Disco grap hy
The only two records that I have from the label. 8)
On Fire – Truckstop Armageddon
The first full length of my dear friends in On Fire, a band that’s been close to my heart for a long time. A Matter of Heart is one of my favourite songs by them ever.
Dead To Me – Wait For It! Excellent comeback record after the disappointing Elephants album.
But I think the first The Real Danger album got the most spins.
I like the fact that they focus on quality now.
My favorite record is This Routine is Hell – The Verve Crusade of course, there’s just so much quality guitar playing on that album, plus I love how they did the backing vocals.
I like the This Routine Is Hell – The Verve Crusade best.
dead to me 7″
Oddly enough: I haven’t heard End Measured Mile (yet), even though I was madly in love with their “Bodies of Water”, so I’ll probably be into this record too…
But to answer the actual question: as far as my favorite record by the Shield goes, I’d have to choose between two: Antillectual (Start from Scratch) and the Dead to Me 7″. After much deliberation I’d pick Dead to Me as my favorite – everything just fits together on that record. Plus: especially after the record before that turned out to be rather bad, this was a pleasant surprise…
I’m going for the Real Danger s/t record. I do have some more records by the Shield, but this is the one that I keep playing the most and especially the first days of summer were some good Real Danger playing days!
As much as I like the Real Danger records I have to go with Antillectual – Start From Scratch, that record is still kind of growing on me and I like my punkrock with a message ;).
Have to say The Real danger – Making Enemies. Really love that band, first time I saw them in Aachen with Bomb The Music Industry! the trains stopped working around Utrecht so I had to hitch from Haarlem to Utrecht so I could drive along with their drummer to the show. Gotta love traveling over five hours to see two bands
The High Treason 7″, the best unknown Dutch hardcore band ever. Followed closely by Smash The Statues’, Gascoigne’s and This Routine is Hell’s 12″s.
Aaaaand that’s it. Comments are closed now. Winners will be notified shortly.
If you’re not a lucky winner, go pick up that release from Shield Recordings anyway. Both the release and the label are worth your support!
Thanks for participating everybody!
