The Way They Run
A band featuring members of Anchor, Guilty, Atlas Losing Grip & Sista Sekunden? Sounds interesting right? That’s what Pim though. So he send some questions to Claes.
Hey Claes, how are you doing? What’s on your mind?
Yo Pim, what´s up? I´m doing good, Sweden just got out of a loooong winter. Everything feels kinda easy right now!
Let’s introduce the band to the audience. Who’s who and what’s the idea?
TWTR is some sort of em rock / melodic punk band with members from Anchor, Guilty, Atlas Losing Grip, Sista Sekunden and many others. I guess the idea just was to do a different band from the ones we currently are in. So somehow this happened and it got a bit more serious then what we first said it would be. Me, Gustav, Ted and Viktor lives in Stockholm and Julian our drummer lives in Crime City also known as Malmö.
How is this band different from your other bands?
I think they are really similar actually. It’s still a band with kids raised by the hardcore/punk scene doing stuff in that sort of way. Musically we have clean vocals and softer songs but yeah I think of it as a punk band. We try to keep up the energy and we carry the ideals that hardcore gave us. same same but different!

How ARE they exactly running? Or where does the name “The Way They Run” come from? And why that name?
There was this cool emo rock band called Firemark from Linköping in Sweden with members from Outlast and Nine. They where around 2001-2002 kinda. They released a 7″ called “The Way They Run” so we took the name from that record. We listened to it on our way down to Lund when we where driving to the studio from Stockholm. It was Viktors idea, it just felt right.
You’ve been uploading songs, but I’ve read somewhere that an actual release of the EP is coming this summer? What kinda release and who’s going to do it?
We will have a 7″ out on Swedish Blackstar Foundation in September, very happy about that!
And how about other future plans? How are you going to incorporate this band into the plans of your other bands?
As active touring musicians all is about planning in advance. For me I guess i’ll just have to worry more about money, how to pay the rent and never get a “real job”. Its a choice I’ve already have done and I think everyone is motivated to make it work. We will get out in Europe after the 7″ is out. I´m very psyched about that!
Capitalism is in my eyes a system that only serve the elite few and lays like a heavy burden on most peoples chests and enslave a big part of our world.
Time for the miss universe question: If you could go back in time and change a single moment in history. What would it be and why?
I´m not sure if we ever where on the right track in the history of humanity? So even if I changed something we would probably be fucked anyways. However, capitalism is in my eyes a system that only serve the elite few and lays like a heavy burden on most peoples chests and enslave a big part of our world. Not to mention the effect this system has on our ecosystem.
What should we be checking out from the Swedish hardcore scene?
Execpt our other bands, check out: Hårda Tider, Keep Rising, Lesra, Håll Det Äkta, Angers Curse, Stay Hungry, Dead Reprise, Beyond Pink, Out Of Vogue, Lose The Life. I probably missed a lot of cool bands but these are some that are active in our scene right now.
That’s it I guess. I’m out of questions. Any final words?
Thanks for checking us out, keep up the good work, see you on the road!
